Pink & Drive !!!!!

I met up with Noelene Kotschan, and she is the director for the Pink Drive campaign, I was curious about what they do, and how they do it! Was amazed by her stories of pink pajama parties in restaurant being raided by guys in skimpy under swimwear doing a war cry!!! Not only do they help with breast cancer, but recently started with a testicular cancer drive as well!!! Neolene, you and your team are doing a great job! please visit their website http://www.pinkdrive.co.za

Zimbabwe Tour 2010

Friday the 22nd of November, me along with some other semi-finalist assisted at the 1st for Woman Tea fundraiser .It was great fun, and then I got auctioned off for R7000 or something like that… waiting for the photos before I post this story….well 23rd of October at 2:45am my mate/work partner was already busy loading my bike in the van, while I was trying to wake up. 3am we started our trip to Zimbabwe.

We reached the border where we had no clue where to go… or what to do. We met a friendly local Thomas that helped with everything. Luckily the immigration tents had air-conditioning. As we wanted to pass through we noticed that some of our documentation was incomplete… but a chicken mayo sandwich quickly fixed any tribulations in our paper work. Sooo off we go… we just passed the bridge we are officially in Zimbabwe, 2minutes 12 seconds later we are officially pulled over in Zimbabwe. We broke the speed limit of 60km/h with 5km/h. 10km down the road… there was nothing but the most beautiful place I’ve seen in my life in a 40°c. I immediately wished I could have been here 10 years ago. Nature looks complete different from us down south.

Then it was another 7hour long drive with more than 10 road blocks before our next stop; Bulawayo.
We reached our destination; I immediately had to make my way to a business meeting. Most of the town was without electricity. Soo we got offered cold pie’s for a late lunch. After the meeting we met up with some locals at the sport fields and relaxed till supper/bed time. Sunday the 24th was the MTB race along with selling caps with all contributions going towards cancer.

Next morning before I decided what distance race I will be doing, we had to go through 4 road blocks. This made my decision a lot easier, I will only do the 30km race for incase we get a road section; it will mean lesser chance for another road block. The heat was scorching. I managed a 3rd position overall, and then ran straight to the swimming pool to cool down. Once again the beauty of the surrounding amazed me. One of the things that astonished me the most is the hospitality of the people. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home, once they hear you are not from around there. Also managed to get some tips
from a six year old how not to jump on a jumping castle.
26th we made our way to Harare stopping after 5hours for lunch at the local Chicken Inn at a little town called Gweru. 4hours and plenty of road blocks after lunch we reached
Harare. The city is busy with cars flying from all sides of the traffic intersection due no power. We made our way to the hotel not far from the Presidents house… that way you are sure of having power. They close the
streets around the Presidents residents from 6pm-6am and pull spike
strips into the road… for security reasons.

Next morning, I had some business to attend to and then visited the CANSA association, where we introduced some less expensive immune boosters to people, and received some positive feedback.
I also managed to meet some of the
Zimbabwe 7 rugby team and one of the Flower brothers from the cricket team. The worst part of Zimbabwe is, that there is much to do, so many places to help, the problem is where to start you give a person relief today, tomorrow he/she is back to where they were. Hopefully I can make another trip up north next year.

J. P. B. B. 2010 Classic at Word Alive Church

So did my first Body Building Show on Saturday(09/10/10). I invited fellow semi-finalist Schalk van der Westhuizen and Anthon Raubenheimer along for the ride to Mmotla Village. 8am Saturday morning Schalk and Anthon arrived at my house, packed some goods and off we go, ready for a long hot day. We arrived just before 11am and there was already some people waiting for the action to start. We quickly got hold of Johannes Mnguni and Phineas Tshabalala that was hosting the show. There was still a lot to be done before the show could start. Everybody chose a different direction, Anthon started helping at the IT department where some technical issues occurred. Schalk and I started setting up and getting the hampers and prizes packed.

At 1pm the church was full and everyone was getting a bit restless. The final taxi arrived dropping off the last body builders. I was the asked to be a guest judge for the competition. When the first 8 contenders walked on to the stage... the crowd went mad, cheering, clapping and jumping... at one stage a piece of pap flew in some direction due to the excitement. After 30 minutes I realised that my mouth was completely dry because it was hanging open in astonishment. I was on a mission to find out how they get their bodies in such great shape. The answer: no I lift some stuff at the back of my house. What do you eat? Eh lots of pap and I like meat to. Stunned stunned stunned!

The rest of the day took off like a field fire; before I knew we were at the final stages of the contest and the big boys were blustery their muscle and the day came to an end. Schalk, Anthon and myself walked away with a new look at life and new friends.
And I started thinking again... by next year there will be some planning towards a gym in Mmotla Village.

I really want to Thank Schalk and Anthon for all their help to make this small but worthy dream come true! Many thanks to Bio-Anabolics you are “Naturally The Best

Five or six months ago I gained a new friend Johannes. He works at Pick n Pay as a “Life-Style Nutrition Specialist”. The little man does not fall short in the communication department of his personality, and over the months we became great friends and he told me about his dream. Johannes wants to open his own gym in the township. He wants children off the street. Teaching them about important things in life and religion, he wants to keep them on the right track through exercise and ensuring that they look after their health. I immediately asked him how I can help and so the planning started. I could not wait to start helping Johannes making his dream become reality.
So our journey started…
Went back to my office and spoke to my boss Chris de Beer. I told him about Johannes and his dream and how I want to help him. Mr. De Beer then gave me the go ahead and said that his company Bio-Anabolics will come to the party and make sure that this show will be a great success.
The venue got booked, the pamphlets printed, all the sponsorship equipment arranged.
Saturday the 9th the show will kick off at 9am at “Word Alive Church” in Mmotla Village. Will keep you updated with photos after the weekend. If there is anybody that would like to join the event, please let me know.

So I am about to embark on a new journey, that holds new challenges for me, new friendships to gain, increase my knowledge and build life experience. When I received the news last week that I managed a Semi-Finalist position for Mr. South Africa 2011, I really did not know what to feel. It was a weird feeling of sort. Complete mixture of emotions. Then all if it sunk in and got real excited about the next couple of months and all the surprises it holds. Next week Tuesday the big race start.
