Pink & Drive !!!!!
I met up with Noelene Kotschan, and she is the director for the Pink Drive campaign, I was curious about what they do, and how they do it! Was amazed by her stories of pink pajama parties in restaurant being raided by guys in skimpy under swimwear doing a war cry!!! Not only do they help with breast cancer, but recently started with a testicular cancer drive as well!!! Neolene, you and your team are doing a great job! please visit their website http://www.pinkdrive.co.za

Zimbabwe Tour 2010
Friday the 22nd of November, me along with some other semi-finalist assisted at the 1st for Woman Tea fundraiser .It was great fun, and then I got auctioned off for R7000 or something like that… waiting for the photos before I post this story….well 23rd of October at 2:45am my mate/work partner was already busy loading my bike in the van, while I was trying to wake up. 3am we started our trip to Zimbabwe.
We reached the border where we had no clue where to go… or what to do. We met a friendly local Thomas that helped with everything. Luckily the immigration tents had air-conditioning. As we wanted to pass through we noticed that some of our documentation was incomplete… but a chicken mayo sandwich quickly fixed any tribulations in our paper work. Sooo off we go… we just passed the bridge we are officially in Zimbabwe, 2minutes 12 seconds later we are officially pulled over in Zimbabwe. We broke the speed limit of 60km/h with 5km/h. 10km down the road… there was nothing but the most beautiful place I’ve seen in my life in a 40°c. I immediately wished I could have been here 10 years ago. Nature looks complete different from us down south.
Then it was another 7hour long drive with more than 10 road blocks before our next stop; Bulawayo.
We reached our destination; I immediately had to make my way to a business meeting. Most of the town was without electricity. Soo we got offered cold pie’s for a late lunch. After the meeting we met up with some locals at the sport fields and relaxed till supper/bed time. Sunday the 24th was the MTB race along with selling caps with all contributions going towards cancer.
Next morning before I decided what distance race I will be doing, we had to go through 4 road blocks. This made my decision a lot easier, I will only do the 30km race for incase we get a road section; it will mean lesser chance for another road block. The heat was scorching. I managed a 3rd position overall, and then ran straight to the swimming pool to cool down. Once again the beauty of the surrounding amazed me. One of the things that astonished me the most is the hospitality of the people. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home, once they hear you are not from around there. Also managed to get some tips from a six year old how not to jump on a jumping castle.

26th we made our way to Harare stopping after 5hours for lunch at the local Chicken Inn at a little town called Gweru. 4hours and plenty of road blocks after lunch we reached
Harare. The city is busy with cars flying from all sides of the traffic intersection due no power. We made our way to the hotel not far from the Presidents house… that way you are sure of having power. They close the
streets around the Presidents residents from 6pm-6am and pull spike
strips into the road… for security reasons.
Next morning, I had some business to attend to and then visited the CANSA association, where we introduced some less expensive immune boosters to people, and received some positive feedback.
I also managed to meet some of the Zimbabwe 7 rugby team and one of the Flower brothers from the cricket team. The worst part of Zimbabwe is, that there is much to do, so many places to help, the problem is where to start you give a person relief today, tomorrow he/she is back to where they were. Hopefully I can make another trip up north next year.
